ABOUT ME
MEET ME
I’m Julia, a Program Manager in tech with a deep passion for storytelling and art. My career has taken me through roles in intellectual property at leading tech companies like Meta, Spotify, and TikTok. Alongside my professional work, I’ve focused on building initiatives to support Black talent within the tech industry, but my latest project is a more personal journey.
In 2023, during the significant tech layoffs, I returned to East Menlo Park to care for my twin niece and nephew. Facing job loss and the weight of childhood trauma, I began working on a documentary that reflects my journey as a Black woman navigating the elite world of Silicon Valley. The film includes an intimate interview with my estranged, drug-addicted mother, revealing the hidden struggles and resilience of marginalized communities in the shadow of tech’s grand promises.
Travel has been crucial in my healing process, offering me fresh perspectives and inspiration. My experiences in Lima, Athens, and other cities have greatly influenced my creative endeavors. Besides my professional work and documentary project, I find joy in discovering and experimenting with new recipes, which has become a significant part of my personal growth.
